What is a Silicone High-Temperature Resistant Sealing Ring?

A sealing component based on silicon elements, formed by the molecular structure of various high-temperature resistant rubbers, designed to achieve sealing effects. Silicone sealing rings are widely favored

in daily life, applied in products like food storage boxes, rice cookers, water dispensers, lunch boxes, thermal containers, water cups, ovens, and kettles for waterproof sealing and preservation.

Influence of Molecular Structure on Properties

The structure of different side-chain elements alters the characteristics of silicone sealing rings. Methyl vinyl silicone rubber (VMQ) is one of the most commonly used silicone rubber materials.

Core Performance Features

As the name suggests, silicone high-temperature resistant sealing rings are renowned for their excellent heat resistance and environmental friendliness. Their specifications and structure offer:

  • Heat & Weather Resistance: Outstanding tolerance to high temperatures, oxidation, and ozone.

  • Elasticity in Extreme Temperatures: Maintains flexibility in low-temperature environments.

  • Electrical Insulation: Superior electrical insulation properties.

  • Gas Permeability: High permeability to gases.

Typical Applications

1.Engine Hood Seals

A type of automotive seal, including front, side, and rear variants, functioning to block dust, reduce noise, and enhance driving safety.

2.Door Frame & Skylight Seals

Encompassing front/rear windshield seals and skylight seals, these are vital for vehicle performance, ensuring a comfortable interior environment.

Other types: Door primary seals, trunk seals, etc.—each serves a unique purpose but is indispensable to vehicle functionality.

Material Compatibility & Limitations

Compatibility Advantages: Low surface energy, hygroscopic (providing isolation), water-resistant (but not steam-resistant; not recommended above 50psi). Compatible with most oils, chemicals, and solvents,

with good acid/alkali resistance and moderate polar solvent tolerance.

Usage Restrictions: Not resistant to alkanes or aromatic oils. Avoid use in concentrated solvents, oils, strong acids, or diluted caustic soda solutions.

Special Variants: Some specialty silicone seals offer additional resistance to radiation, fire, or oils.

Technical Specifications

Temperature Range: Typically -60°C to 225°C; special silicones can withstand up to 300°C (high temperature) or as low as -100°C (e.g., TR10 for -100°C).

Hardness Range: Shore hardness generally between A25° and 90°.
