Rubber is a valuable elastic polymer material with a wide temperature range. Under different medium conditions, it undergoes significant deformation when subjected to minimal stress. This deformation can generate contact pressure, compensate for leakage gaps, and thereby achieve a sealing effect. Poor storage, however, can compromise its sealing performance.
.Cleanliness: If necessary, rubber seals can be cleaned with soapy water. Disinfectants, organic solvents, and sharp tools must not be used. After cleaning, the seals should be air-dried at room temperature, with no exposure to heat sources. The environment for storing rubber seals should be kept clean.
.Humidity: The relative humidity of the warehouse should be below 70%. Excessive humidity or dryness should be avoided, and condensation must not occur.
.Temperature: The ideal storage temperature ranges from 5°C to 25°C, and it should not exceed 25°C. Contact with heat sources and direct sunlight should be avoided. When removing seals from low-temperature storage, they should be left in a room-temperature environment for at least 10 minutes before use.
.Light Exposure: Rubber seals should be stored away from light, especially intense sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV-resistant packaging bags can provide protection. It is recommended that the warehouse windows be coated with red or orange paint or covered with film (to block UV rays).
.Radiation: Damage to the seals from ionizing radiation should be avoided.
.Oxygen and Ozone: Rubber materials should be prevented from exposure to circulating air. This can be achieved through packaging, wrapping, storage in airtight containers, or other appropriate methods. Equipment that generates ozone, such as mercury vapor lamps, high-voltage electrical appliances prone to sparking or static electricity, and electric motors, should not be present in the storage space.
.Deformation: Rubber seals should be placed in a freely relaxed state to avoid stretching, compression, or other forms of deformation. For example, they should not be hung or stacked.
.Packaging: Rubber seals must not come into contact with materials that can damage rubber, such as solvents, greases, and magnetic materials. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) materials should not be used for packaging the seals. Seals made of different materials should not be packed together.
.Storage Period: The storage period of rubber seals is determined by the type of rubber material used.
